Course Description:

This course provides an introduction to the
professional field and profession of instructional
technology. It provides a sense of history and an
explanation of how the components of the field fit
together. There is a particular emphasis on the
evolution of major themes and movements in the
field.

Course Objectives and Student Outcomes:

Student will demonstrate cognitive and/or skill
knowledge of:
  • learning theories.
  • how learning can be enhanced for different
    purposes under a variety of conditions.
  • electronic systems and behavioral and
    cognitive models of learning.
  • limitations of technology in specific kinds of
    learning tasks and certain stages of
    development.
  • major productivity uses of computers in
    education.
  • familiarity with research on the application of
    learning theories to instructional technology.
